Cold Rooms, Hot Benefits – How Cold Rooms Can Help Your Business

By Jon Steward

Refrigeration for many pubs and restaurants is a tricky nut to crack. You have lots of fridges and freezers that you try to keep organised, but, let’s be honest: it’s a struggle, right?

But for many catering businesses, there’s a simpler, easier and CHEAPER way to organise your refrigeration.

A cold room.

Why are they so good?

Cold rooms solve your storage problems. They simplify your temperature logging procedures and allow you to organise your food better.

With so much depending on refrigeration in your business, cold rooms can make a big impact.

Here’s four reasons you should consider getting one if you have a medium to large scale business:

1/ They give you masses more chilled storage space

Cold rooms give you more storage per square foot than using traditional refrigerators or freezers.

If you are thinking of buying several fridges or freezers for long-term storage, one large cold room can give you more space.

Don’t replace all your refrigeration with one cold room, though. Think of it as long-term storage, from which you will transfer what you need to your general purpose refrigerated storage in your kitchen.

2/They are easier to clean

The racking used in cold rooms is easy to remove. This means when you deep clean it is a simpler and easier job. You can get them so sparkling the EHO will be singing your praises.

3/ They simplify your temperature recording

Move from lots of checks on different equipment, each with its own form to one each hour – bliss!

4/ When there’s a problem, they are easier to fix

A cold room’s compressor is separate from the room – it’s attached to the side of the unit. This means it can often be much simpler to fix. There’s also less need to rearrange the kitchen to pull out a fridge, and often a simple swapping of one refrigeration  unit for another required!

5/ They help to reduce costs, simplify deliveries and plan ahead

Because cold rooms are built to hold lots of food, they allow you to buy in bulk, which can reduce the amount of deliveries you need weekly (as you can fit more in) . Topping up your general purpose refrigeration each day also helps you keep an eye on stock levels.

Because of these benefits, we’re now offering flat pack cold rooms that you can order and have delivered in days. Flat pack means they arrive in sections meaning spaces you might have discounted are no longer off limits, making the most of every space.

Prices start from £45 a week, which includes a site visit, delivery AND installation. Check out our cold rooms here.
